On our drive home from school today, Leah told me, "I can't wait to be in fifth grade."
"Really?" I asked. "Why is that?"
"Because when you're in fifth grade, you can be on safety patrol."
Pause.
"I can't wait to be in fourth grade," Leah said.
Bo asked, "Why?"
"Because in fourth grade, you can start orchestra."
"True," I replied.
"And I'm excited to be in third grade because in third grade, you get to play recorders."
"Well, you've sure got a lot to look forward to," I told her.
Pause.
"And I'm excited for the end of second grade, because we get to learn cursive."
And why do you suppose she's excited for high school? Because in high school, you get to pick which lunch table you sit at.
Apparently, it's true what they say. It's the little things in life that really are the big things.
