Bristol: One Month

In most families, moms are really good about taking monthly pictures of the first kid, pretty good about taking pictures of the second, and then after that, eh, maybe a picture every six months or something. Well, I was actually never that good about taking monthly pictures at all. But I'm determined to stick with it for Bristol. I've been inspired by my friend, Christin (the one whose naughty little baby boy somehow used ESP or something and convinced Bristol that she shouldn't wait for 10-11-12 to be born), and I'm going to put Bristol in this 12 month outfit on the 8th of each month until her first birthday just to watch her fill it out. Christin usually includes information about any milestones her baby met that month as well, so I'll try to do that too.

According to the Wii fit scale, Bristol weighs about 8.5 pounds. Seeing as how she is outgrowing the size 1 diapers and some of her newborn onesies, I'd say the Wii fit is not the most accurate method of weighing a baby.  In the last few days, Bristol has flashed goofy little grins at Leah, Bo, Bill, and her proud mama. When she looked back at me yesterday and smiled, on purpose, I tell you what, any piece of my heart that hadn't already been stolen by this girl was done for. For the most part, Miss Bris is easy going and content. She has her moments where I wonder if something I ate is upsetting her stomach, but it usually passes quickly. Otherwise, she cries when she wants to eat or have her diaper changed. She sleeps for at least four hours at a time, but many nights I'll get 5 or 6 hours of zzz's before she starts squawkin'. Babies like her are the reason Bill and I have managed to stay relatively sane and still have five kids. (I won't name any names, but we did have one of the other kind of baby too. And if she'd been the first, she might have been the only.) Plus, as you can see from these pictures, we're 5 for 5 in the cuteness department!

Also, when Christin did this with her daughter, she'd put the baby on this cute little quilt to compare the number of squares she covered from month to month. We're adding a different element of fun to Bristol's pictures. I started crocheting the strip of blanket you see in these pictures several months ago. I'm pretty sure July was the last time I worked on this. Whoops. Hopefully, you'll watch the blanket grow over the next several months as well. :)
