She hasn't had any visits to the doctor's office lately, so I have no idea how much she weighs. But I feel like within the last couple of weeks she has really packed on the pounds. Okay. It's probably only a pound, but still, it's enough to make her noticeably heftier. Some of her onesies that fit a couple of weeks ago, suddenly seem a lot tighter. She really seems to fill out (and up) the size 2 diapers more than she used to. Also, she's apparently quite responsive to public shaming. After I posted about how she hadn't gotten back to sleeping through the night after her illness at the end of January, she has now slept through the night every night except last night. And I feel like last night isn't totally fair because I subbed during the day yesterday and she doesn't eat as much from the bottles that Bill gives her as I think she does when I'm home to nurse her. So, she probably really was hungry. We'll see how tonight goes...
Along with sleeping better last week, I feel like another "switch" was flipped in her. This one I'm not so sure I love the same way I love the sleeping through the night. She seems to be noticing when I leave the room or when strangers are holding her. Where she used to not mind me setting her on the floor in the living room and then going downstairs to put some laundry in, she doesn't seem so keen on being left alone anymore. And tonight, when this sweet old man from church, Mike, approached to ask if he could hold her like he always does, her bottom lip went out! While I'm flattered that she knows just how awesome it is to be in my presence, I don't need another reason to skip the laundry!
This was just an all-around busy week for Miss Bris. I can't remember which day it was- Friday maybe? I know Bill was at work because I texted him to tell him about it. She officially became a roller. Before that, she'd had some flukes, but this day it was intentional. I'd put her on her stomach and she'd immediately go to her back. She's probably a little late to the game on rolling, but the floor isn't the safest place at our house, so she spends a lot of time either being held or sitting in the bumbo, exersaucer, or bouncy seat.
And as if that wasn't enough, she got two teeth! I'm not sure exactly when they poked through, but they were first noticed on Monday the 11th (technically after her 5 month birthday). Before anyone gets to the all-knowing chuckle and, "Oh yes. That's the mother of five kids for you. Doesn't even notice when her kid gets teeth anymore," let me just say, it has nothing to do with Bristol being the fifth kid. I have never been the mother who has any idea how many times her baby nurses in a 24 hour period or records the number of poopy diapers in the same amount of time. When the nurse asks, "Has your child had a fever?" I tell her, "Yes," or, "No," and have no other information to offer. I don't know when the last time was that I took a child's temperature or if we even own a thermometer anymore. It's not that hard to tell if a kid is sick or has a fever. I didn't notice Leah's first teeth until they'd probably been in for a couple of days and Bill and I noticed recently that Grier has some new molars. It really shouldn't even be noteworthy that I'm the same laid-back mom with Bristol that I was with my others. Wow. I had no idea I was harboring that much pent up hostility over the "fifth kid" comments. Sorry. Movin' on to the best part: the pictures.
It's getting harder to get her to be still for the pictures. She also discovered her feet last week and can't keep her hands off of them!
